Hamilton Beach 80355 Custom Grind Coffee Grinder, Platinum Review

We bought this when our old Krupps started making loud bearing noises.
I really like it. The auto turn off is wonderful. No more holding my finger on the start button.
The cord winder in the base is a great idea. No more tangled power cords.
It is very easy to use. We like strong coffee, so I grind it very fine.
If you did put 12 or more coffee measures in this I think it would overflow, that is the reason I didn't give it 5 stars.
I make 8 cups and it is pretty full after it grinds.
I am going to buy the new Hamilton Beach grinder to grind flax seeds.
I don't think that this model is sold any more, but the new model looks similar.

Miallegro 1060 10-cup Drip Coffee Maker Review

After using a french press for the last 5 years (and breaking them regularly), I decided I wanted to go back to using an electric drip coffee maker. I knew I needed something small and space-efficient for my little Brooklyn kitchen. This one seemed like a good bet - it makes 10 cups and the whole unit is significantly smaller than other 10-cup coffee makers I considered. Even with shipping, it only cost about . For that price, I was willing to give it a try.

What I like:
super small and cheap
cute design, cool colors
comes with a reusable coffee filter, but you can use the paper ones instead if you want
decent coffee pot that doesn't spill everywhere when you try to pour (had this problem with other coffee makers)
has auto-shutoff thing so that when you remove the pot, it stops dripping
white plastic does not seem to stain easily
comes apart easily for cleaning

What they could improve upon:
components are a bit cheap - have to press the "on" button a little hard, plastic is a little chintzy.


Overall, I'm giving it a 4 out of 5 because at this price, it's amazing they can make a working coffee maker at all. I used it for the first time this morning and in my opinion, it did make an acceptable cup of coffee. My coffee was hot and it tasted like coffee should. Unlike another reviewer's experience, the swing-out basket on mine works fine and seems to close securely. I've had cheap coffee makers in the past and they all have their annoying quirks. I don't think this one is any worse than the ones I had before. The things I like about it far outweigh the things I don't, so in my opinion, this one is a keeper. Also, there's a 15 month warranty on it, so if it breaks, I can basically send it back and get a new one for the cost of shipping. If you have pretty simple expectations and just want a coffee maker that won't cost too much money or counter-space, this is a good bet.
